This week on the podcast, we’re tackling a topic that’s a little harder to put into blog form. This week’s episode focuses on Hook Up Culture. While there is a lot of room to give practical advice in this area, we also know that this is commonly turned into an area of shame within Christian culture. There is no shortage of do’s and don’ts on this topic and we really love that this episode of the podcast is story-based, not a one-size-fits-all how-to. We hope it helps you consider your story and how you can invite God to be a part of it! Listen in as Mark, Depauw University & Delta Upsilon alumni, shares his story with us.
Rather than put some tips in written form and add to the noise, here are some words of encouragement as you listen to this week’s episode. It might be helpful to pick one to focus on that resonates with you.
Everyone has a different story when it comes to the area of sexuality. God wants to be invited into that area of your life.
You can never get to a point where God won’t want to be invited in. You aren’t “too far gone.”
There is no hierarchy of sin. You aren’t more broken if you wrestle with sexual sin.
Change happens when we invite God into our lives.
Near the end of the episode, Alison says “Shame, if we stay there, is really destructive both to ourselves and to the people we love.” May you remember this as you listen and may listening be an opportunity to invite God into every part of your story.
